Sittin' in the sun eating ice cream

Spring break is here! I don't think i've ever experienced a spring break where things went crazy and I ended up poolside, drunk midday in Mexico. Instead I end up sitting in the sun having a picnic with friends. I lucked out on my finals schedule this quarter and ended up having my only final on the first day of finals week, therefore, I basically have a two week spring break and I can't believe it!

So naturally, as one does, I called my best friend and off we ventured. The weather has been perfect t-shirt weather lately. Not too hot and a subtle breeze. We opted to hang around the little beach
towns we grew up in. San Clemente being the town of choice. We both knew places there, but out of all the little areas South County has to offer, we knew San Clemente the least. We went to Velvet Yogurt, a place that Dev discovered some years ago and we learned today was renovated into the cutest damn store ever. Devon kept saying that it was very Portland-esque. "It even smells like Portland!"Which means we were both immediately sold, because Portland above anything else, knows how to do food right.

It wouldn't have been right to be that close to the beach and not have actually GONE. So, alas, we drove a bit North to literally the beach I grew up at, Salt Creek. We sat on the rocks and I tried to find surfers in the sea, something I never really see or pay attention to. It was nice to just take a moment to sit and exist. Nothing on my mind of what I needed to do, just simply existing. It's rare to have such peaceful moments like that and being right next to the water will do it for you. No wonder my nana would always say how much she loved the beach and made sure to do her morning walks around it.
