A thought on words.

you are a story.
do not become a word.
one word.
because
you want to be loved.
love does not ask you to be nothing.
for something.

My best friend was here recently and I was talking to her about something I've noticed is becoming more popular in social media. The labeling game. Often in people's "description" "about me" something of that nature section, they will write words they think represent themselves. It's effective, in a sense, but I have always thought of people as being more complex than a label. I don't see anything wrong with doing this, I just simply think that that person is probably so much more than a zodiac sign, their major, school, city, anything really. They are just labels at the end of the day. They don't describe your compassion or how kind your heart is. They aren't characteristics that make people fall in love with you or that show empathy. They are ways to put yourself in a category. Categories are the fastest way to judge something or someone.

I'm sure at some point in my life I might've done something like this because it gets your point across. It writes your accomplishments and is straight to the point. Just because I don't feel like my city is really telling of who I am doesn't mean it doesn't feel that way to other people. And maybe my interpretation of these words is too in-depth, when sometimes people just want to say, "hey, I don't want to tell a long story, here is me in a few words." I don't want there to be any hate or judgement towards this, rather, human empowerment. We are not words, we are stories and stories are endless and boundless. Why must only the gods be allowed to have tales?
