Devon. Where do I begin to describe my life with Devon? She is my longest and truest friend I have had in my existence. She is the furthest thing from a superficial friend I could possibly imagine. She will sit with you through it all, and she will admit when something isn't right. She works for a friendship if she believes in it. I adore her. That's really what it comes down to. She is family. My life would be lonely without her
... Ahem. Anyway, through all that sentimentality that I always go through when I introduce Dev to people. she is also a newly graduated culinary student. Beyond that, she is doing an externship at the playground in downtown Santa Ana. Let's not get into the details of how proud I am of her or I'll start crying. No joke. I practically started crying when I first saw her in the kitchen.
Devon so kindly invited my brother and I to dine in on her first night of her externship. The playground has a new project called the playground 2.0 where they prepare the food in front of you and the chefs give you a bit of background information on the food being presented to you. Anyway, it was a 13 course meal, fully vegetarian (halle-fucking-lujah) with 4 alcoholic beverages (not gonna lie my brother and I were both drunk by the time we got home, just a casual Tuesday night). It was a beautiful thing to see. Someone you've known for so long doing something they've been wanting to do for so long.
Dev's fritter with lime yogurt!
Devon has a beautiful food blog in which you can vicariously live her adventures with and through food, here.
