I have been wanting to go to the Huntington Gardens for a few years now. As most things in my life, I first heard it from my brother. I later researched it and decided that I needed to go. It seemed unbelievably beautiful.
Ali and I had a late birthday celebration and it was at, of all the places, the huntington gardens! I could easily post 20+ pictures of this place, but I'll calm myself and post a few. It was easily one of the prettiest places I've visited in my area and I could not believe I had not been or heard more about it in my life.
After our trip to the gardens (it was kind of a mini hike, and it was hot out) we were starving. We went to Old Town Pasadena (another of my brother's favorite spots, this should just be called "an ode to Juleon" can you tell I miss him?) and ate at a place full of nostalgia for me, Barney's Beanery. We got an entire pizza, black bean burger, fries, and a cup of vegetarian chili. I wasn't kidding when I said we were starving. Afterwards, we perused around Old Town for a bit, got some coffee at Intelligentsia (I had no idea there was one in Pasadena in the first place) and went for beer. Because it can't actually be a birthday date without a beer.
We had both heard about Eagle Rock brewery and decided to finally go because that is a part of LA we never really explore. It was quaint and full of locals. Exactly my favorite type of place to go when I'm not familiar with a place. A sense of quirkiness. We had a couple of beers and shared really beautiful conversations. A mellow night to a wonderful day. To say I am a lucky lady would be an understatement.
