July 4th

I can't say that fourth of July is a holiday that I actively find myself wanting to celebrate. But, for every holiday, there is a cooking occasion. Therefore, justified. Anyway, Ari and I decided to make vegetarian hot dogs because places like Wurstkuche and Linx have made us believers. You don't need to settle for the bog standard tofu-dog or whatever that tastes like something you never want to put in your mouth again. As a vegetarian, when in doubt, Trader Joe's. Their Italian sausages, on point. We ate some hot dogs, had multiple beers and her mom made the most beautiful cupcakes. A feast was had.

Multiple beers and sweets later, we were having throwback moments blasting the Rilo Kiley pandora station throughout her house. Holla. Once cabin fever hit, we ventured to Devon's who is an actual chef. She made homemade biscuits, whipped cream, and nectarines! We sat around her fire pit and caught up with life like we were in high school again. Since we weren't going to bother to go to a firework show, we decided to light sparklers in the backyard. It was a mellow and beautiful evening with much needed company and great food, it was what I want every holiday to be.

Have you guys ever seen that YouTube channel with the girl that acts like the psycho girlfriend? Well, we should be on her channel.
