Monday Rituals

Mondays. Ali's Sunday. The day where he is usually like, "let's get coffee and breakfast" but we don't get together until 11:30. Every. Time. I try to tell him that we have to go to an all day breakfast place in order to get breakfast at 11:30, but he just never seems to learn or realize. Anyway. I figure I should start writing about this Monday ritual because it's one of my favorites because it's the day Ali and I just do life together. Errands or sleeping in the park. Whatever we feel like doing. It's a timeless day.

We decided to try "Vitaly Caffe" at The Camp, an Italian coffee place that I have passed countless times, but have never actually tried... Turns out that it was just okay. And by saying it was okay is being semi-generous because my latte tasted just like a cup of steamed almond milk and the flatbread we got for $10 was mediocre to say the least. But the atmosphere was ace. Therefore, amped up all the coffee snobbery we both possess. I guess we are spoiled considering last weekend we had the luxury of getting the coffee & tea collective's *perfect* coffee. But still. Every place can be equally as good... Anyway, we decided to ditch the cute scenery and walk across the street to Seabirds. A restaurant that started off as a food truck. It's vegan. It's damn good. I really don't think I need to explain anymore...

I went for the "locals bowl" because black beans & rice are my favorite base for any bowl, ever. Ali tried the falafel salad, probably mostly because I pointed out that I think that sounded good... (ways you know your significant other loves you). I accompanied my meal with a classic choice of beer, a porter. Eel River's Porter. It was pretty great. Really smooth and I practically finished it before my meal came out. I've realized that if I like a beer a lot I drink it like it's water and that's just, concerning. It's fine. It's fine... ahem. Anyway, after lunch we decided to do our favorite thing after eating and drinking... go to the park. But first, I needed to get a blanket to keep in my car for our spontaneous park visits which have becoming more and more frequent. And why not a plush minnie mouse one?

If you're wondering why we can't look normal in a photo it's because we never look normal. And the cutesy couple pictures, I just can't. I think when other people do it it's adorable, but him and I aren't like that.  I mean, even if I had one I wouldn't be able to post it. I prefer ones where I'm pouting and choking him... It's nice to be in love with someone who is just like your best friend. That's how life stays fun, for me at least. I know the past few posts have been about introspective things, but fun stuff happens everyday. And this guy has been such a steady anchor for my thought process that I had to start incorporating our little life together because we are both growing rapidly and it'd be a shame not to document the process. Also, Ali without glasses. That's how you know he's down for some serious park napping. Just saying. (I texted him one of these photos and he legitimately thought I was cheating on him because he didn't recognize himself... -_-)
