My friend Ari invited to me to a Frida Kahlo exhibit on Sunday, I was thrilled to go because I didn't even know it was happening in the first place! The exhibit showcased Kahlo's photographs, something that she was not known for doing, but still had developed a passion for. For whatever reason, I was semi-emotional when I first started walked into the exhibit. I've always been a big fan of Frida because of her individuality and strength. I know we can't really know anyone that we've never met truly, but what her work and words present are so poetically empowering to me. She went through a lot and yet she still seemed to sustain her light. It's so easy for struggles to dim you, but, I don't know, I could just be completely romanticizing her. However from what I have learned of her, she seems to be a poet in every form and was able to still be a light to others, even if she felt as if she was dark inside.
